Your wedding pictures are the one component of your wedding that will last a lifetime if not
longer. Next to your venue, they will also be one of the greatest costs for your wedding. Due to
this, it is vital that you shop around for a photographer asking questions of each before
deciding on who you want to capture the memories of your moments.
The following are a collection of key questions to ask when interviewing a photographer:
- What styles of wedding photography do you shoot?
- May I see examples of your work?
- Do you have references I may contact to ask questions?
- What type of coverage do you offer?
- Do you offer packages, or can we choose what we want individually?
- Is an assistant(s) included?
- What will you wear to our wedding? (It's perfectly acceptable to dictate a dress
code in the contract.)
- Can we keep our photo negatives?
- How long will it take for you to produce my album?
- What is the specific photography related equipment you will use at my wedding?
Remember to always make sure that you have negatives of the wedding in the form of both
proofs and for digital photography a CD of your proofs. This will allow you to own the rights to
duplicate your photos at your convenience.
